Alumni Testimonials
Will graduated from Georgia Tech in 2017 with a major in Business Administration and concentration in Finance. During his time in the IC, Will was Energy Sector Head, Director of Mentorship, and Senior Financial Director. He is currently a Vice President in Guggenheim Securities’ Investment Banking division.
How did the IC help prepare you for your current job?
“IC helped to provide me exposure to public markets in ways that are extracurricular to the core finance curriculum at Tech. To study corporate finance theory is one thing, but the only way to get experience in putting it to use is in evaluating opportunities in the markets. The IC provides an easy way to get exposure to evaluating opportunities in the public markets.“
Why did you decide to join the IC?
“I had an intellectual interest in finance and wanted to learn more, and candidly, also thought it would be a resume booster for internship recruiting.”
Jason graduated from Georgia Tech in May 2019 with a degree in Business Administration and minor in Engineering through the T&M Program. During his time in the IC, Jason was the Senior Managing Director and the Director of Mentorship. He is currently a Senior Associate at Roark Capital, an Atlanta-based private equity firm with $37 billion in AUM.
How did the IC help prepare you for your current job?
“The IC does a great job preparing you for any job in consulting, finance, or engineering. You learn how to look at a company from the lens of an investor while developing essential skills such as modeling, presenting, preparing investment decks, using Bloomberg, etc. Also, being around like-minded motivated people fosters a sense of community where everyone helps each other learn.”
What is your advice for people looking to join?
“I would say to really devote time to building your relationships and skill set in the IC. The best way to do that is to reach out to those who are more experienced in the IC and learn as much as possible from them.”
